Costco is hiring a Cake Decorator in Surrey, BC to help create beautiful, high-quality cakes for everyday sales and special orders. This hands-on bakery role focuses on decorating, filling, finishing, and packaging cakes while maintaining strong food safety and quality standards.
ABOUT THE JOB
As a Cake Decorator, you will finish bakery items by applying fillings and frostings, adding decorative details, and writing personalized messages on cakes. You’ll use pastry bags, tips, and decorating tools to produce consistent results, support daily production, and prepare products for display or customer pickup.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Decorate cakes by applying frosting, fillings, and garnishes using spatulas and pastry tools.
- Create borders, designs, and writing on cakes following established formulas and presentation standards.
- Slice and portion sheet cakes using appropriate tools and place items on cake boards for handling.
- Prepare pastry bags with frosting, manage decorating supplies, and keep tools organized and ready.
- Review special orders to confirm requested flavours, colours, and decorative details.
- Remove baked items from pans, apply toppings, and finish products to meet quality expectations.
- Use bakery equipment such as a whipped cream machine and safely handle ingredients.
- Assemble cake boxes, package finished cakes, and transfer products to coolers, freezers, or wrapping areas.
- Maintain a clean decorating station and follow all safety and sanitation procedures.
- Support other bakery tasks as needed and provide friendly, prompt member service.
