ABOUT THE JOB
As a Pharmacist, you will direct patient care activities, dispense prescription medications, and educate patients on proper medication use. You will practice to the full extent of the expanded scope of pharmacy practice allowed in Nova Scotia, collaborating with healthcare professionals and ensuring all services meet regulatory and professional standards. This role requires strong clinical judgment, attention to detail, and a commitment to patient safety and confidentiality.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Dispense prescription medications accurately and apply appropriate auxiliary labels.
- Review prescriptions for therapeutic appropriateness, including interactions, allergies, contraindications, dosage, and frequency.
- Verify and process refills, manage prescription transfers, and maintain confidential patient records.
- Educate patients on proper medication use and provide prompt, professional patient care.
- Conduct medication reviews, medication reconciliation, and follow-up as permitted by provincial regulations.
- Administer injections and other authorized services within scope of practice.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to identify and resolve drug therapy issues.
- Oversee and support pharmacy technicians, interns, and students as required.
- Maintain compliance with provincial regulations, Costco policies, and safety procedures.
- Participate in continuous professional development and maintain licensing in good standing.
- Act as Pharmacist-in-Charge when required to ensure smooth dispensary operations.
