Costco Wholesale Canada is hiring a Meat Cutter in Halifax, Nova Scotia. This is a skilled role in the meat department, focused on cutting, trimming, and preparing meat for sale while maintaining high standards for quality, safety, and member service.
ABOUT THE JOB
As a Meat Cutter, you will prepare raw meat products to Costco standards using department equipment and safe cutting techniques. In addition to supporting packaging and display readiness, you’ll help manage daily production needs, rotate inventory, and ensure the department stays clean and compliant with sanitation and food safety procedures. This role is ideal for candidates with meat cutting experience who can work efficiently in a busy warehouse environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Cut, trim, and prepare meat products to Costco specifications using approved tools and equipment.
- Inspect and reassemble sanitized equipment and ensure the work area is ready for daily production.
- Receive, rotate, and manage meat inventory in coolers, including scanning and handling product adjustments as required.
- Rework and restock the display case, assess production needs, and rotate product to support freshness.
- Operate department equipment (e.g., band saw, grinder, tenderizer, slicer) while following safety procedures.
- Support packaging and transfer processes by loading product into trays and preparing items for wrapping and merchandising.
- Maintain department cleanliness by completing sanitation routines and following temperature-control requirements.
- Perform routine equipment care and report issues to ensure safe operation.
- Provide prompt, professional member service when needed.
- Assist in other warehouse areas as necessary.
