ABOUT THE JOB
As a Self Checkout Attendant at Walmart, you will help customers navigate the self-checkout process, respond when assistance is needed, and ensure the self-service area runs efficiently. You’ll monitor activity, perform quality checks when required, and maintain a safe, orderly environment. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys customer interaction, stays calm under pressure, and follows store procedures.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Keep the self-checkout area neat, clean, and free of debris, foreign objects, and spills.
- Guide customers on the correct use of self-checkout stations when needed.
- Support a positive shopping experience through friendly and professional service.
- Observe customer activity to determine when assistance or intervention is required.
- Perform quality checks and explain interventions clearly while reassuring customers about store protocols.
- Respond appropriately to EAS alarms and complete required logs (e.g., “Failure to Deactivate”).
- Escalate to the Customer Service Manager when the self-service area is low on cash or has technical issues.
- Return Scan and Go scanners to their designated location after use.
