Pharmacy Student – Costco, Halifax, NS
Costco Wholesale Canada is hiring a Pharmacy Student in Halifax, Nova Scotia. This opportunity is ideal for students currently enrolled in an approved pharmacy program who want hands-on experience supporting prescription services, member care, and pharmacy operations under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
ABOUT THE JOB
As a Pharmacy Student, you will assist the pharmacy team with day-to-day activities related to drug distribution and member service. Under the supervision of the pharmacist, you may help with prescription order entry, packaging and preparation tasks, and maintaining accurate patient information. You’ll also support pharmacy initiatives such as health promotion clinics and medication review services, while following provincial regulations and strict confidentiality standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Answer and triage member phone calls and direct members to the correct product location.
- Collect required patient information and support prescription order entry in the pharmacy system under supervision.
- Assist with preparing prescriptions by retrieving stock bottles, counting medications, and labeling as directed by the pharmacist.
- Alert the pharmacist when needed, including potential drug interactions or patient concerns.
- Follow provincial regulations and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- Support member service at the counter, including retrieving prescriptions and processing register transactions following procedures.
- Communicate with patients about over-the-counter products and refer questions to the pharmacist when appropriate.
- Provide limited counseling/education for prescription or OTC items depending on competency level and provincial regulations, under pharmacist supervision.
- Help stock drugs, supplies, and OTC merchandise, and keep the pharmacy clean and organized.
- Assist with pharmacy programs such as medication reviews and health promotion clinics under direction of the pharmacist.
- Support other warehouse areas as needed, as directed.
