ABOUT THE JOB
The Optician / Contact Lens Practitioner at Costco assists members with selecting frames, lenses, sunglasses, and contact lenses based on their prescriptions and visual needs. The role involves measuring and fitting eyewear, processing orders, and ensuring members receive accurate and professional optical services.
This position also supports optical department operations by maintaining product inventory, assisting with contact lens fittings, and ensuring all procedures meet professional optical standards and Costco service expectations. Licensed practitioners may also help supervise students or apprentices while maintaining a safe and organized department.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist members in selecting eyeglass frames, lenses, sunglasses, and contact lenses based on their prescriptions.
- Perform accurate optical measurements such as pupillary distance (PD) and lens positioning.
- Support the fitting and dispensing of contact lenses and provide guidance to members.
- Process optical orders, payments, and documentation following company procedures.
- Verify prescriptions and ensure accuracy of completed eyewear orders before member pickup.
- Maintain inventory by stocking optical merchandise, frames, and supplies.
- Ensure the department follows health, safety, and optical regulatory standards.
- Keep the optical department clean and organized while supporting general warehouse operations when needed.
- Provide guidance or oversight to optical students or apprentices when applicable.
