ABOUT THE JOB
The Optical Student position at Costco supports the daily operations of the optical department. Students assist members with choosing eyeglass frames and lens options, help process eyewear orders, and support optical staff with customer service and administrative tasks.
This role also includes assisting with eyeglass fittings and adjustments under the supervision of licensed opticians. The position requires strong attention to detail, effective communication skills, and the ability to provide friendly and professional member service in a fast-paced retail environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist members in selecting eyeglass frames and lens options that match their prescription.
- Process eyewear orders and over-the-counter optical merchandise purchases.
- Provide courteous and prompt member service in the optical department.
- Adjust eyeglasses using optical tools under the supervision of a licensed optician.
- Assist with fitting eyeglasses when members pick up completed orders.
- Maintain accurate order documentation and transaction records.
- Order and stock optical merchandise and supplies as required.
- Keep optical displays and department areas clean and organized.
- Follow department procedures related to product storage and merchandising.
- Support general department operations and assist the optical team as needed.
