ABOUT THE JOB
The Meat Cutter at Costco is responsible for preparing and trimming meat products for sale using specialized equipment such as saws, knives, grinders, and slicers. This role ensures that products meet company standards for quality, presentation, and freshness while supporting the daily production needs of the meat department.
Employees in this role also assist with inventory rotation, product preparation, and sanitation procedures. The position requires a strong focus on safe food handling, equipment operation, and consistent product quality while working closely with other members of the meat department team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Cut, trim, and prepare meat products according to Costco specifications using department tools and machinery.
- Operate equipment such as band saws, grinders, slicers, and tenderizing machines.
- Inspect and prepare display cases to maintain product presentation and proper stock rotation.
- Transfer and organize products between coolers, preparation areas, and display cases.
- Monitor product quality and consistency to meet department standards.
- Maintain strict food safety practices including sanitation and temperature control procedures.
- Clean and sanitize equipment and work areas regularly throughout the shift.
- Assist with packaging and department support tasks when necessary.
- Perform routine maintenance checks on department equipment.
- Provide friendly and helpful service to Costco members when needed.
