Costco is hiring a Meat Cutter for its warehouse in Gatineau, Quebec. If you have experience working with fresh meat and enjoy hands-on work, this role offers the chance to support a busy Meat Department by cutting, preparing, and merchandising high-quality products for members.
ABOUT THE JOB
The Meat Cutter cuts, trims, and prepares raw meat for sale while following strict food safety and sanitation standards. This position works with equipment such as band saws, knives, grinders, tenderizers, and slicers, and helps ensure the department is stocked, organized, and ready for daily production. The role also supports product presentation and delivers prompt, courteous member service.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Cut, trim, and prepare raw meat for sale using approved tools and equipment.
- Inspect, reassemble, and ensure equipment sanitation and readiness for daily production.
- Receive and rotate product, including scanning inventory and handling rework or disposal when required.
- Move cases of meat (up to approximately 80 lbs) from cooler to preparation areas safely.
- Operate department equipment such as band saws, slicers, grinders, and tenderizers.
- Transfer finished products to trays, display cases, and storage while maintaining proper temperatures.
- Maintain clean and sanitary work areas by following SSOPs and health code requirements.
- Perform routine care of tools and equipment and report any maintenance needs.
- Support merchandising and product presentation, including assisting with special programs when assigned.
- Provide friendly, professional, and courteous member service.
