Costco Wholesale Canada is hiring a Meat Assistant in Halifax, Nova Scotia. This hands-on role supports the meat department by wrapping and labeling products, maintaining display cases, and following strict food safety and quality standards in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
ABOUT THE JOB
As a Meat Assistant, you will help prepare and package meat products for sale, using wrapping equipment and ensuring accurate labels and pricing. You’ll stock and rotate items in display cases, operate department equipment as required, and maintain a clean and sanitary work area. This position is ideal for reliable team players who can follow procedures, work safely, and deliver consistent product quality for Costco members.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Wrap and label meat products using a wrapping machine and apply correct pricing labels.
- Stock, rotate, and maintain meat display cases to ensure product freshness and presentation.
- Inspect and reassemble sanitized equipment and ensure workstations are ready for production.
- Move packaged meat from racks and place items into wrapping equipment following safety procedures.
- Operate department equipment (such as a meat grinder) and monitor quality and consistency of finished products.
- Maintain a clean department by completing sanitation and temperature-control procedures.
- Perform routine equipment care and report issues to ensure safe operation.
- Provide prompt, professional member service when needed.
- Assist in other warehouse areas as necessary.
