Costco is currently hiring a Maintenance Assistant to support daily operations at its Toronto Optical Lab facility. This role plays a key part in maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient work environment by handling janitorial duties, general maintenance, and facility upkeep in line with company standards.
ABOUT THE JOB
The Maintenance Assistant is responsible for ensuring all areas of the facility remain clean, organized, and functional. This includes routine cleaning, operating maintenance equipment, assisting with grounds upkeep, and supporting internal departments as needed, while always following safety and security procedures.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform daily cleaning and janitorial tasks across offices, restrooms, break rooms, and production areas.
- Operate floor scrubbers, trash compactors, and other cleaning equipment.
- Handle waste removal and recycling throughout the facility.
- Respond promptly to spills and clean-up needs.
- Maintain facility fixtures by changing light bulbs, washing windows, and cleaning walls and ceilings.
- Assist with grounds maintenance, including seasonal tasks such as snow or ice removal.
- Support minor repairs, painting, and concrete floor maintenance.
- Monitor and restock cleaning supplies and place items in appropriate departments.
- Follow all safety, security, and operational procedures.
- Provide courteous assistance to employees, members, and suppliers when required.
