Walmart is hiring a Deli Associate in Hamilton, Ontario. This role supports day-to-day deli operations by delivering excellent customer service, preparing and handling deli products safely, and keeping the department stocked, organized, and ready for customers.
ABOUT THE JOB
The Deli Associate helps maintain a high-quality deli experience by following food safety standards and ensuring products are properly prepared, displayed, and rotated. You’ll assist customers with deli selections, support production tasks like slicing and packaging, and contribute to strong merchandising practices including zoning, pricing, and cleanliness. This position is ideal for candidates who enjoy hands-on work in a busy retail food environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain department zoning and keep the deli area customer-ready throughout the day.
- Rotate inventory and check sell-by and expiration dates to support food quality and safety.
- Ensure deli items are correctly signed, priced, and labelled following store procedures.
- Follow standards for cold chain compliance, temperature recording, and safe food handling practices.
- Prepare and handle deli merchandise, including slicing, packaging, and assisting with product requests.
- Support front-end teams when needed, including helping with price checks.
- Prepare select food items using approved equipment and tools while maintaining sanitation standards.
- Keep the work area clean, safe, and organized, removing hazards and maintaining hygienic conditions.
