ABOUT THE JOB
As a Cake Decorator at Costco, you will frost, fill, and decorate cakes using bakery tools such as spatulas, pastry bags, and decorating tips. You’ll follow department procedures and established formulas to ensure a consistent look and high standards across products. The role also includes preparing items for display and special orders, maintaining a clean decorating area, and following food safety and sanitation requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Frost and fill cakes using a spatula and apply decorative finishes using pastry bags and tips.
- Create borders, patterns, and written messages on cakes according to order details and department standards.
- Slice and handle cakes safely using approved tools and methods, including hand slicing or a slicing machine when required.
- Prepare cakes for display and special orders by boxing and labeling products for sales floor stock.
- Garnish and finish items such as cheesecakes and fruit-topped products following Costco formulas.
- Use equipment like a whipping cream machine and assist with preparation tasks as needed.
- Keep the decorating station clean and organized, following sanitation and safety procedures.
- Provide prompt and courteous member service and support other bakery duties as required.
- Assist in other warehouse areas when needed.
