Costco is currently hiring a Cake Decorator in Burnaby, BC. This role is responsible for decorating, finishing, and preparing cakes for sale and special orders while maintaining high standards of quality, presentation, and food safety.
ABOUT THE JOB
The Cake Decorator works within the warehouse bakery to frost, decorate, and personalize cakes according to company formulas and member requests. This position requires creativity, precision, and a strong understanding of bakery production standards.
Responsibilities include preparing layers, applying fillings and icing, writing custom messages, and ensuring that finished products meet Costco’s quality and consistency guidelines. The role also supports overall bakery operations and maintains a clean and organized work environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Frost and decorate cakes using spatulas, pastry bags, and decorating tools.
- Apply fillings, icing, and garnishes following approved bakery formulas.
- Read and interpret member special orders to customize designs and written messages.
- Slice and prepare cakes for packaging and display.
- Box finished cakes and transfer products to appropriate storage or sales areas.
- Maintain cleanliness of decorating stations in accordance with food safety regulations.
- Provide courteous and professional member service when needed.
- Assist with additional bakery and warehouse duties as required.
