Walmart is hiring a Self Checkout Attendant in Windsor, Ontario. This role supports customers in the self-checkout area by providing friendly service, transaction assistance, and front-end support to help ensure a smooth and positive shopping experience.
ABOUT THE JOB
As a Self Checkout Attendant at Walmart, you will help customers use self-service checkout stations efficiently and safely. You’ll keep the self-checkout area clean and organized, assist with checkout issues, and follow procedures for interventions and quality checks.
This position is a great fit for people who enjoy customer service, staying alert in a fast-paced front-end environment, and helping ensure store processes are followed, including basic loss prevention steps related to self-checkout.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe self-checkout area, keeping stations free of debris and hazards.
- Assist customers with self-checkout transactions, including troubleshooting common issues when appropriate.
- Educate customers on the correct and efficient use of self-service checkout options.
- Observe customer activity to identify when assistance is needed and provide support promptly.
- Perform self-checkout interventions and quality checks, explaining the reason for assistance while maintaining a positive customer experience.
- Respond appropriately to EAS alarms and complete required documentation such as “Failure to Deactivate” logs when needed.
- Promote company programs and initiatives (such as store services or charity campaigns) when applicable.
- Notify the Customer Service Manager if the self-checkout area is low on cash or has technical issues.
- Return handheld devices or scanners (such as Scan & Go) to their designated location after use.
