ABOUT THE JOB
The Department Manager – Unloading plays a key role in ensuring merchandise is received, processed, and moved efficiently within the store. This position supervises the unloading process, coordinates team activities, and ensures products reach the salesfloor quickly and safely.
In this role, you will help maintain safe operational standards, oversee daily receiving tasks, and provide leadership and guidance to associates working in the receiving and stocking process. The position requires strong organizational skills and the ability to support a fast-paced retail environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinate associates to ensure efficient receiving and unloading of merchandise trailers.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment by following company safety policies and procedures.
- Prepare and maintain the receiving area for incoming shipments.
- Oversee the sorting and processing of general merchandise delivered to the store.
- Assign tasks and guide associates responsible for moving pallets and stocking products on the salesfloor.
- Support merchandising tasks such as stock replenishment, overstock binning, and product protection.
- Provide training, coaching, and feedback to associates to support team performance.
- Lead by example and assist with operational duties during busy receiving and stocking periods.
- Help ensure proper handling of temperature-sensitive merchandise including refrigerated and frozen products.
