Costco is hiring a Meat Cutter in Calgary, Alberta. In this role, you’ll prepare high-quality fresh meat for sale by cutting, trimming, grinding, and packaging products while following strict food safety and sanitation standards in a busy warehouse environment.
ABOUT THE JOB
The Meat Cutter supports Costco’s Meat Department by processing and preparing fresh meat products using professional tools and equipment such as band saws, knives, grinders, tenderizers, and slicers. You’ll help maintain attractive displays, rotate inventory, and ensure products meet Costco quality standards. This position requires strong attention to detail, safe work habits, and the ability to handle physically demanding tasks.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Cut, trim, and prepare fresh meat for sale using knives, band saws, and other department equipment.
- Operate equipment such as grinders, tenderizers, roast tyers, and automatic slicers following safety procedures.
- Inspect and reassemble sanitized equipment and prepare the department for daily production.
- Receive, rotate, and manage meat inventory in coolers, including proper product rotation and handling.
- Lift and move cases of meat (up to approximately 80 lbs) from coolers to processing areas as required.
- Package and transfer finished product to trays and displays, ensuring clean, organized merchandising.
- Maintain a clean work area by completing routine sanitation and following established SSOP guidelines.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks for tools and equipment used in the department.
- Provide prompt, courteous member service and support other warehouse areas when needed.
