Costco is hiring a Food Service Assistant in Surrey, BC. This role supports daily operations in the warehouse food service area, preparing and serving hot food and beverages while delivering fast, friendly member service in a high-volume environment.
ABOUT THE JOB
As a Food Service Assistant at Costco, you will help prepare, assemble, and serve food items while maintaining strict food safety and sanitation standards. You’ll assist with cooking, stocking supplies, operating food equipment, and ensuring the dining and kitchen areas remain clean and organized.
This position requires efficiency, teamwork, and attention to detail. You’ll follow established department procedures and provide courteous service to members throughout your shift.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare and cook hot food items such as pizzas, hot dogs, and baked products following department standards.
- Slice and package items, place prepared foods in warmers, and monitor cooking times and temperatures.
- Operate kitchen equipment including deep fryers and food prep machines safely and efficiently.
- Process member transactions by ringing up sales, collecting payments, and providing accurate change.
- Take food orders at the counter and over the phone and present completed orders promptly.
- Dispense desserts and beverages such as frozen yogurt and specialty drinks.
- Clean and sanitize kitchen surfaces, utensils, machines, tables, and floors according to health codes.
- Restock ingredients and supplies from warehouse inventory, including coolers and freezers.
- Monitor product rotation, expiration dates, and temperature logs to ensure compliance.
- Follow all safety and cash-handling procedures.
- Assist in other warehouse areas as required.
