Costco is looking for a Baker to join the bakery team in Surrey, BC. In this hands-on role, you’ll help produce high-quality baked goods at scale by mixing, shaping, baking, and monitoring products while following Costco formulas, food safety standards, and daily production procedures.
ABOUT THE JOB
As a Baker at Costco, you will prepare and bake high-volume bakery products using established recipes and production formulas. You’ll work with industrial-sized ingredients and equipment (including mixers and other bakery machines) to ensure products are prepared consistently and safely.
This position requires strong attention to detail, comfort working in a fast-paced environment, and a commitment to sanitation, temperature controls, and food safety. You’ll also support a positive member experience by maintaining high standards for quality and service.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Measure, assemble, and combine large quantities of ingredients according to Costco formulas.
- Use tools and calculations to adjust formulas for alternate yields when required.
- Operate equipment used to prepare bakery items, such as a dough roller, muffin depositor, and crust machine.
- Use industrial mixers to prepare batter, frosting, and fillings for baked goods.
- Roll, cut, and shape dough for breads and pastries, and transfer raw product to raising rooms.
- Bake products in large ovens, monitor baking times/temperatures, and remove items to cooling racks.
- Feed dough into automated dough equipment as needed to support production flow.
- Monitor sanitation practices, temperatures, and pull dates, and comply with applicable health codes.
- Follow department procedures and quality standards to maintain consistent finished products.
- Follow all safety and security procedures while working with equipment and ingredients.
- Provide prompt and courteous member service when interacting on the sales floor.
- Assist with other bakery and warehouse tasks as needed.
