ABOUT THE JOB
As a Cake Decorator at Costco, you will frost, fill, decorate, and finish cakes for daily sales and special orders. You’ll use pastry bags, tips, spatulas, and other tools to create consistent designs that meet Costco’s production standards. The role also includes preparing packaging, keeping the decorating area clean and organized, and supporting the bakery team to ensure products are ready on time.
This position is ideal for someone who takes pride in neat presentation, follows recipes and procedures carefully, and can work efficiently while maintaining excellent quality.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Frost, fill, and decorate cakes using spatulas, pastry bags, and decorating tips.
- Slice half-sheet cakes by hand or with a slicing machine and place items on pre-cut cake boards.
- Apply fillings between layers and finish cakes with consistent designs, borders, patterns, and writing following Costco standards.
- Prepare pastry bags by filling them with frosting and use appropriate tips for different designs.
- Review special orders to confirm flavours, colours, patterns, and personalized writing; clarify instructions when needed.
- Remove cheesecakes from pans, apply toppings, and garnish products as required.
- Operate equipment such as a whipping cream machine and handle products safely.
- Slice fresh fruit for use on baked products when required.
- Assemble cake boxes, package finished cakes, and transfer racks to cooler, freezer, or wrapping areas.
- Maintain a clean workspace by clearing debris and following safety and sanitation procedures.
- Assist with other bakery tasks as needed and provide prompt, courteous member service.
