ABOUT THE JOB
As a Pharmacy Student at Costco, you will assist with day-to-day pharmacy operations related to prescription processing and member support. Working under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, you may help with prescription entry, packaging, and other pharmacy services while following strict standards for patient confidentiality, safety, and regulatory compliance. You may also support health promotion activities and contribute to a clean, organized pharmacy workspace.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Answer and triage member phone calls, directing members to the appropriate product or service.
- Collect patient information and enter prescriptions accurately into the pharmacy system under pharmacist supervision.
- Support the dispensing process by retrieving stock bottles, counting/packaging medications, and preparing labels as permitted.
- Follow safety and security procedures at all times while completing pharmacy duties.
- Alert the pharmacist when required, including potential drug interactions or patient concerns.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with provincial regulations and Costco Pharmacy policies.
- Assist members at the counter, including prescription pick-up and register transactions following procedures.
- Provide support for OTC product questions under pharmacist supervision and refer when appropriate.
- Help identify eligible patients for medication review services and support related workflows.
- Support Health Promotion Clinics and other expanded-scope initiatives as directed.
- Help maintain pharmacy inventory, supplies, and organization, keeping the area clean and well-managed.
- Assist other warehouse areas as necessary.
