Costco is hiring a Cake Decorator in Laval, QC. This creative role supports the bakery by frosting, filling, and decorating cakes for daily sales and special orders while maintaining excellent quality, food safety, and outstanding member service.
ABOUT THE JOB
As a Cake Decorator at Costco, you will prepare and finish cakes using approved tools and decorating techniques. You’ll apply fillings and frosting, decorate cakes with pastry bags and tips, and write customized messages for member orders. The role also includes slicing, boxing, and moving finished products to coolers/freezers or wrapping areas while keeping the decorating station clean and organized. Food Safety Certification Level 1 is required on the first day in the position.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Frost, fill, and decorate cakes using spatulas, pastry bags, and decorating tips.
- Create decorative patterns, borders, and writing that meet Costco standards for consistency and quality.
- Prepare pastry bags by scooping and portioning frosting; mix and handle icing safely and efficiently.
- Read special orders and apply custom messages; contact members if instructions need clarification.
- Slice cakes as required using appropriate tools and place items on cake pads for safe handling.
- Remove cakes from baking pans, assemble finished products, and apply finishing touches according to formulas.
- Box and label cakes for sales stock and special orders, then transfer product to racks and storage areas.
- Move finished goods to coolers, freezers, or wrapping areas while maintaining product integrity.
- Keep the decorating area clean and free of debris, following sanitation and safety procedures.
- Support other bakery tasks as needed and provide prompt, courteous member service.
