ABOUT THE JOB
As a Pharmacist at Costco, you will practice to the full scope permitted by provincial regulations. The position involves dispensing medications, providing patient education, collaborating with healthcare professionals, and supporting medication therapy management. You will also help maintain pharmacy operations, safety standards, and confidentiality while delivering high-quality member service.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Dispense prescription medications accurately and apply appropriate auxiliary labels.
- Review prescriptions for therapeutic appropriateness, including interactions, allergies, dosage, and contraindications.
- Verify prescriptions and refills with physicians when required and accept verbal prescriptions as permitted.
- Educate patients on proper medication use, over-the-counter products, and health-related questions.
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient records and medication histories.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to resolve drug therapy issues.
- Conduct medication reviews and support medication therapy management where permitted.
- Administer medications by injection when allowed under provincial regulations.
- Support pharmacy operations, policies, and safety procedures.
- Act as Pharmacist-in-Charge when required and assist with supervision of pharmacy staff and students.
