Walmart is hiring a Self Checkout Attendant in Burnaby, BC. In this customer-facing role, you’ll support shoppers at the self-checkout area by providing excellent customer service, keeping the space organized, and helping ensure transactions run smoothly and securely.
ABOUT THE JOB
As a Self Checkout Attendant at Walmart, you will assist customers using self-service checkout stations, respond to alerts and quality checks, and help maintain a safe and efficient checkout environment. You’ll play an important role in improving the shopping experience by offering guidance, resolving minor issues, and coordinating support when technical or cash-related concerns arise.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Keep the self-checkout area neat, clean, and organized, removing unnecessary debris, foreign objects, and liquids.
- Educate customers on the correct and efficient use of self-checkout options when needed.
- Promote company programs and initiatives (such as credit services, product protection, or charity programs) when applicable.
- Observe customer activity to determine when assistance is required and step in promptly.
- Complete self-checkout interventions and quality checks while explaining the process in a friendly, reassuring way.
- Respond to store loss-prevention procedures by acknowledging EAS alarms and completing required logs when necessary.
- Notify the appropriate manager when self-checkout lanes are low on cash or experiencing technical issues.
- Return handheld scanning devices (such as Scan and Go scanners) to their home location after use.
