Costco is hiring a Meat Cutter for its warehouse in Vancouver, BC. This hands-on role focuses on preparing high-quality meat products, keeping displays full and organized, and following strict food safety and sanitation standards while delivering excellent member service.
ABOUT THE JOB
As a Meat Cutter at Costco, you will cut, trim, and prepare raw meat for sale using a variety of tools and equipment such as saws, knives, grinders, tenderizers, and slicers. You’ll help ensure product quality, maintain proper temperatures, and support daily production needs by rotating inventory and keeping the meat case ready for members. This position also includes supporting duties commonly performed within the meat department.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Cut, trim, and prepare meat for sale using approved tools and Costco specifications.
- Inspect, reassemble, and sanitize equipment as needed and ensure the workspace is ready for production.
- Receive and rotate meat inventory in coolers; scan inventory and follow procedures for rework or disposal when required.
- Move cases of meat (up to approximately 80 lbs) and transport product to preparation areas safely.
- Operate equipment such as band saws, meat grinders, tenderizers, and automatic slicers while following safety guidelines.
- Grind and portion product according to department standards for quality and consistency.
- Load trays, transfer product to racks for wrapping, and assist with packaging and presentation in the display case.
- Clean and sanitize equipment and work areas throughout the day, following health code requirements and SSOPs.
- Perform basic routine maintenance for machinery, equipment, and tools.
- Support special department activities as needed (including setup tasks related to in-warehouse programs).
- Provide prompt and courteous member service and assist in other warehouse areas when required.
