Costco is currently seeking a licensed Pharmacist to join its pharmacy team in Edmonton, Alberta. This role focuses on delivering high-quality patient care, dispensing medications safely, and supporting members through professional counseling and clinical services in accordance with provincial regulations.
ABOUT THE JOB
As a Pharmacist at Costco, you will provide direct patient care by dispensing prescription medications, reviewing therapies, and educating patients on proper medication use. You will practice to the fullest extent of the expanded scope of pharmacy practice permitted by provincial regulations, while ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and patient safety in a fast-paced pharmacy environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Dispense prescription medications and apply appropriate auxiliary labels.
- Review prescriptions and over-the-counter medications for therapeutic appropriateness, including interactions and contraindications.
- Verify prescriptions and refills, communicate with physicians, and accept verbal prescriptions when permitted.
- Provide patient counseling on medication use, side effects, and product selection.
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient medical records.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to resolve drug therapy issues.
- Supervise and work closely with Registered Pharmacy Technicians to ensure efficient workflow.
- Conduct medication reviews, reconciliation, and patient follow-ups as permitted by regulations.
- Participate in patient safety initiatives and report incidents according to policy.
- Maintain professional competence through continuing education and required certifications.
- Act as Pharmacist-in-Charge when required, ensuring smooth pharmacy operations.
