Costco is looking for an experienced Meat Cutter to join the Meat Department in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. This role focuses on cutting, trimming, and preparing fresh meat for sale while ensuring top-quality presentation, food safety, and excellent member service.
ABOUT THE JOB
As a Meat Cutter at Costco, you will prepare and portion raw meat using professional tools and equipment while supporting daily production needs. You’ll help maintain a well-stocked display, follow strict sanitation and temperature controls, and work as part of a fast-paced team to meet Costco’s quality standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Cut, trim, and prepare meat products to Costco specifications using knives, saws, and slicers.
- Inspect and reassemble sanitized equipment and set up the meat area for daily production.
- Receive, rotate, and manage meat inventory in coolers, including scanning and handling product as required.
- Transport meat cases (up to 80 lbs) and move items between coolers, prep areas, and displays.
- Operate meat department equipment such as grinders, tenderizers, and related tools following safety procedures.
- Maintain product quality by checking fat content, consistency, and presentation standards.
- Load and transfer meat trays and products to packaging/wrapping areas and support stocking plans.
- Clean and sanitize work areas throughout the day and follow SSOPs and health code requirements.
- Support member service with prompt, courteous assistance.
- Assist other warehouse areas as needed.
