ABOUT THE JOB
As a Loss Prevention Clerk at Costco, you will help prevent and investigate internal and external theft, identify potential safety and security risks, and support investigations when required. You’ll document incidents, maintain evidence and reports, and work closely with warehouse leadership. This role may also involve communication with local authorities and, in specific cases, providing testimony in legal proceedings.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Patrol the warehouse and perimeter to monitor safety and security concerns throughout the day.
- Observe, detect, and help prevent theft and loss, including identifying suspicious activity.
- Detain and interview suspected shoplifters when warranted and in accordance with procedures.
- Identify and report potential internal dishonesty and support investigations as approved by management.
- Prepare detailed incident reports for internal use and potential prosecution.
- Maintain evidence and investigation files with accurate documentation and attention to detail.
- Coordinate with warehouse leadership and, when necessary, cooperate with local law enforcement.
- Provide testimony in court regarding theft investigations, when required.
- Stay current on Costco procedures and relevant laws related to loss prevention and theft prevention.
- Support the team by sharing loss prevention best practices and exchanging information about local theft trends.
