ABOUT THE JOB
As a Cake Decorator at Costco, you will frost, decorate, and personalize cakes using approved formulas and production procedures. You’ll work with pastry bags, icing tools, and commercial bakery equipment to ensure each cake meets quality, consistency, and presentation standards. This position requires attention to detail, steady hands, and the ability to manage multiple orders in a fast-paced bakery environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Frost and decorate cakes using spatulas, pastry bags, and decorative tips according to company standards.
- Write personalized messages and create decorative designs for special orders.
- Apply fillings and icings between cake layers and ensure smooth, consistent finishes.
- Prepare and box cakes for sales floor display and member pick-up.
- Review special orders to confirm flavours, colours, and design details, clarifying instructions when needed.
- Use bakery equipment such as whipping machines and slicing tools safely and effectively.
- Maintain a clean and organized decorating station, following sanitation and food safety guidelines.
- Follow department production procedures to ensure quality and consistency of finished products.
- Provide courteous member service and assist with additional bakery duties as required.
- Support other warehouse areas when needed.
