ABOUT THE JOB
The Loss Prevention Clerk is responsible for safeguarding company merchandise and maintaining a secure environment for members and employees. This position focuses on preventing internal and external theft, identifying potential safety risks, and supporting investigations when incidents occur. The role works closely with warehouse leadership and may collaborate with local authorities when required.
This position requires strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to follow established Costco policies and provincial regulations related to loss prevention and security practices.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitor the warehouse and surrounding areas to identify and address safety and security concerns.
- Observe and respond to potential shoplifting or theft incidents in accordance with company procedures.
- Conduct investigations, document findings, and prepare detailed incident reports.
- Collaborate with warehouse management and regional loss prevention teams regarding suspicious activity.
- Detain and interview individuals when appropriate and in compliance with legal guidelines.
- Maintain accurate records and preserve evidence related to investigations.
- Support internal theft investigations and identify opportunities to reduce operational shrink.
- Testify in court when required in connection with investigations.
- Provide guidance to warehouse staff on loss prevention policies and procedures.
- Assist in other warehouse areas as needed.
