Costco Wholesale is hiring a Loss Prevention Clerk in Montréal, QC. In this role, you’ll help protect the warehouse from internal and external theft, monitor safety concerns, and support investigations while maintaining a professional, member-focused environment.
ABOUT THE JOB
The Loss Prevention Clerk helps safeguard Costco’s assets by observing activity on the sales floor and around the building, identifying potential risks, and documenting incidents accurately. You may support investigations, prepare reports, and work closely with management and, when required, local authorities. This position requires strong judgment, clear communication, and a solid understanding of relevant procedures and regulations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Patrol the warehouse and perimeter to monitor safety and security concerns during the shift.
- Observe, detect, and help prevent theft, including responding to suspected shoplifting incidents.
- Detain and interview individuals when warranted, following applicable policies and legal requirements.
- Identify and report suspected internal dishonesty and escalate for approval to investigate.
- Report potential internal theft situations to management and support follow-up actions.
- Look for shrink reduction opportunities and communicate findings to leadership.
- Prepare clear incident documentation and reports for internal use and possible prosecution.
- Maintain organized evidence and investigation files and ensure documentation is accurate.
- Testify in court when required regarding investigations and related reports.
- Stay current on Costco procedures and relevant laws, and participate in meetings or training sessions.
- Coach team members on loss prevention practices and help reinforce safe procedures.
- Coordinate with other loss prevention staff to share information about current and local theft trends.
